Blog Tour - Soul Scavengers by Lisagh J. Winters

Spooks and sexy investigators. Yummy :P

Psychic medium Olivia Emerson is young, gutsy, and out to prove she’s got what it takes to hang with the big boys. Although haunted by a past that threatens to consume her, Olivia accepts a job on a snow covered island that could make or break her career. She just needs to keep her past where it belongs- behind her. She knows this job could be her foot in the door, and hopefully the vehicle she needs to break into the business and take the next step up. The only problem; she’ll be working with him.
Paranormal investigator Sullivan Wilde has a healthy dislike for anyone claiming to hear or communicate with spirits. To him, they’re all frauds. He learned firsthand that just because you want to believe, doesn't make it real.

When Sullivan’s forced to work with Olivia, he’s not happy about it. She exasperates him, pushes his buttons, and doesn't have a shut off valve for that mouth of hers. He doesn't believe in her ‘gift’, and makes no apologies for it. Yet, as much as he tries to deny it, there’s something about Olivia that gets under his skin. The moment they’re left alone on the dock of the island, devoid of living inhabitants, everything changes. Some unhappy spirits, coupled with Olivia and Sullivan’s burgeoning feelings for one another leave them with no choice but to rely on one another if they want to make it through the night. Can Sullivan and Olivia put their differences aside in order to finish the job and walk out alive?

Excerpt

“You? You’re the clairvoyant?” This had to be a joke somebody was playing on him, and it pissed him right off. He made a mental note to choke Arnav when he got back home. “How old are you, fifteen?” No wonder she took the bus. She was a damned kid, probably too young to drive!
“Nice to meet you, too.” Olivia frowned and followed him around the vehicle. “Fifteen? What are you, blind?”
He gave her an appreciative glance up and down her dripping frame. “Absolutely not, I assure you. So answer the question. Do I need to sign some sort of parental permission slip?” he asked, turning away from her and digging through his pockets for a pen.

Publication Date: March 30, 2014
Print Length: 233 pages
ASIN: B00JDSY9UM

Finding the man of your dreams can be a real nightmare….

As the future prima, or head witch of her clan, Angela McAllister is expected to bond with her consort during her twenty-first year, thus ensuring that she will come into her full powers at the appointed time. The clock is ticking down, and her consort has yet to make an appearance. Instead, her dreams are haunted by a man she’s never seen, the one she believes must be her intended match.

But with time running out, and dark forces attempting to seize her powers for their own, Angela is faced with a terrible choice: give up her dreams of the man she may never meet and take the safer path, or risk leaving her clan and everyone in it at the mercy of those who seek their ruin.

Darkangel is the first book in The Witches of Cleopatra Hill, a paranormal romance trilogy set in the haunted town of Jerome, Arizona.

Interview

I managed to snag Christine for a quick Q&A. I just love seeing inside our authors heads ;)

Tell us 5 things that make you happy

My husband, my dog, the view of Sedona’s red rocks out my back window, that feeling of being completely immersed in another world when the writing is doing well, and being able to work from home.

What makes your perfect man, perfect? What do you look for in a hero?

Intelligence, a sense of humor about himself and the world in general. Someone who pays attention – not just to me, but to others and what’s going on in the world. I look for those same things in a hero; a lot of the male protagonists in my books aren’t your standard “alpha male” because in real life that type of man tends to drive me nuts.

What qualities make up your least favourite heroine?

Stupidity, selfishness, narrow-mindedness. I’ve read some books where the heroine was so self-absorbed and so clueless about what was going around her I seriously wanted to throw the book across the room.

Do you have any quirks? When writing, or otherwise?

I can’t write in total silence. I have to have the earphones on and my special playlist for that particular novel going, or I just can’t get into the right head space.

Do you have any hobbies that you take part in when you aren’t writing?

These days I’m either writing or running my freelance business, so I don’t have a lot of free time. When I do, I like to go exploring around Sedona and environs, including Jerome and Flagstaff.

What do you like to read?

A little bit of everything. I tend to binge-read – I’ll go on a tear and read a bunch of mysteries, then get tired of that and move on to fantasy or science fiction for a while before I move on to maybe contemporary romance or historical romance for a change of pace.

If you had to pick one of your characters to survive a zombie apocalypse with, who would it be and why?

Definitely Eryk Thorn from Blood Will Tell/The Gaia Gambit. I figure the galaxy’s most notorious mercenary/assassin is probably a good person to have at your side during the zombie apocalypse.

Tell us a bit about how the idea for your book came about.

I actually got the idea for Darkangel from a dream I had about six months ago. The climactic scene is almost exactly what I saw in my dream – I just had to build the rest of the book around it.

Which of the seven deadly sins are you most partial to? Which do you indulge in the most?

These days, probably gluttony. There are just too many good places to eat in Sedona!

Who is the person who most inspired you? Either in your life, or writing?

I think it has to be my mother. She went through a lot of difficult periods in her life, but she always managed to maintain a positive attitude and achieved a great deal.

Do you have a favourite quote?

“Difficult things take a long time, impossible things a little longer.”—AndrĂ© A. Jackson

Can you tell us a little about your latest project?

Right now I’m working on the second book in the Witches of Cleopatra Hill trilogy. I don’t want to say too much, in order to avoid spoilers, but there will be a lot more about the mysterious Wilcox clan in this one.

Last but not least, if you could be anyone else in the world, who would it be, and why?

Honestly, right now I’m not sure I’d want to be anyone else. I’m enjoying my life enormously and really wouldn’t want to change places with anyone!

Thank you Christine. It was lovely getting to know you a little better :)

Author Bio

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Two of her short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Christine writes as the mood takes her, and her work includes paranormal romance, and fantasy and science fiction/space opera romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection. After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor and graphic designer in addition to writing fiction. She fell in love with Sedona, Arizona, while researching the Sedona Trilogy and now makes her home there, surrounded by the red rocks. No alien sightings, though...not yet, anyway!
